Remembering CVOEO in your Will or Trust

When you include CVOEO in your will, you’re taking action to end poverty, build community, and create a healthier, happier, and more just future for everyone in Vermont.

Most planned gifts are designated in a will or trust. There are many options to help future generations thrive and we are committed to finding the best fit for you. Leave a legacy with us at CVOEO.

Your gift to CVOEO will be directed where needed most, however, you can select to give directly to one of our interconnected programs.

Gifts in a Will or Trust

When you include CVOEO in your estate planning you can make a bigger difference in the future of Vermont.

To leave a gift to CVOEO, consider using the following language in your will, “I give and bequeath unto CVOEO, tax ID #03-0216837, ___% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to be used for general charitable purposes.”

Beneficiary Designations

You can make CVOEO a beneficiary of your retirement account, life insurance, donor-advised fund (DAF), or other assets. Contact your fund administrator for a beneficiary form to name CVOEO the beneficiary of the entire account or a percentage of the fund.

Charitable Gift Annuities, Remainder Trusts, and Lead Trust

CVOEO has partnered with the Vermont Community Foundation to offer Charitable Gift Annuities, along with Charitable Remainder Trusts and Charitable Lead Trusts. This partnership offers ways to give through your will, living trust, retirement plans, and other mechanisms that may provide fixed income back to you or a loved one for life.

Gift from a Retirement Plan or IRA

A Qualified Charitable Distribution or QCD (sometimes called an IRA Charitable Rollover) is a great way to make a tax-free gift now to CVOEO and also satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Your RMD is the minimum amount that an individual must withdraw from their IRA each year once they reach age 73. Instruct your IRA provider to distribute funds directly to CVOEO.

"I wanted to find the best way to extend my support over time, and after some research, I decided a Charitable Gift Annuity would be the best vehicle for my family. There are many ways to leave a legacy gift, and I hope you will join me in supporting CVOEO for years to come!” – Jon Crystal, CVOEO Board Member
