You can make a bigger difference in the future of Vermont when you include CVOEO in your estate planning.
To leave a gift to CVOEO, consider using the following language in your will, “I give and bequeath unto CVOEO, tax ID #03-0216837, ___% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to be used for general charitable purposes.”
You can also make CVOEO a beneficiary of your retirement account, life insurance, donor-advised fund (DAF), and other assets. Additionally, a Qualified Charitable Distribution or QCD (sometimes called an IRA Charitable Rollover) is a great way to make a tax-free gift now to CVOEO and satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) too.
CVOEO has partnered with the Vermont Community Foundation to offer Charitable Gift Annuities, along with Charitable Remainder Trusts and Charitable Lead Trusts. This partnership offers ways to give through your will, living trust, retirement plans, and other mechanisms that may provide fixed income back to you or a loved one for life.
When you donate securities held longer than one year, you may be able to avoid paying capital gains taxes and receive a charitable deduction for the full market value of the stock. Additionally, gifts of appreciated assets may be deductible up to 30% of your adjusted gross income, and any excess may be carried over for use in future tax years. Discuss with your Financial Advisor the options that are best for you.

A donor-advised fund (DAF), is a charitable savings account that gives you the flexibility to recommend grants to CVOEO and other qualified charities. As a 501(c)(3) organization, CVOEO and our programs are eligible to receive distributions from most donor-advised funds. You can also create a lasting legacy by naming CVOEO as the beneficiary of the entire account or a percentage of the fund. Contact your fund administrator for a beneficiary form.
CVOEO’s tax identification number is 03-0216837. Our mailing address is: CVOEO, Attn: Philanthropy, P.O. Box 1265, Burlington, VT 05402.
Double your gift! Your employer may match employee donations or volunteer hours. Check with your Human Resources department to see if your gift can be matched.
