Unhoused families across Burlington are pulling everything they can together to withstand their current conditions after hundreds of households exited the program this month.
The city of Burlington and Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity are working together to set up families with young children in temporary camps at North Beach campground.
CVOEO said the effort could not begin without the referrals from Burlington School District.
"Certainly, as part of it, we were trying to make certain that it was families with minor children that could have first access to the limited spaces at North Beach and, of course, work with the school homeless liaisons if those children are old enough to be enrolled in school," said Travis Poulin, the Director of the Community Action Network at CVOEO.
