Formerly named Feeding Chittenden County, the organization changed their name to better exemplify what they do. The food assistance program is part of the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity and was already reaching people outside of Chittenden County before the name change.

Feeding Champlain Valley began as a food shelf in 1974 when multiple churches reached out to CVOEO for help feeding hungry patrons. In the subsequent 50 years, the organization has grown to much more than a food shelf. Feeding Champlain has 18 food access sites in northwestern Vermont along with delivery services available for those who request it.

An average of 2 million pounds of food is distributed each year by Feeding Champlain Valley, according to their website, with an average of 431 meals being served to individuals and families daily.

Feeding Champlain Valley currently employees 22 people, with a combined fluency of 13 languages, ensuring they can be a capable service to the entire community. They partner with other organizations for food drives and events, making serving Vermont's less fortunate a community effort.
