Warmth Support Program
The Warmth Support Program supplements Vermont’s Seasonal and Crisis Fuel Assistance services, operating between October 1 and May 31, or until funds diminish.
You are eligible for support through CVOEO's Warmth Support Program if:
- You are within 5-7 days of running out of bulk fuel
- You are in danger of having your utility service disconnected
To discuss eligibility and connect with a CVOEO staff member, begin by contacting your local team listed on this page.
In addition to offering financial support, and in an effort to help clients avoid heating crises in the future, Community Action's Warmth Support Program staff will work with you to examine your monthly income and expenses, available resources, and capacity to make realistic repayment arrangements (for past-due metered services) or to cover part of the cost of a delivery of bulk fuel.
Staff will also check if you're eligible for other supportive programs, such as 3SquaresVT and weatherization services.
About the Warmth Support Program
Many Vermonters will face dangerously low home temperatures this winter because they cannot afford to pay their fuel or utility bills. The Warmth Support Program is here to help. Since its inception in 1986, the program has provided over 95,700 emergency disbursements to help our neighbors avert life-threatening heating crises.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you. You do not know how much it meant to me to be able to talk to someone who was so kind and understanding. It has been difficult to cover all the bills, and I am so grateful for your help.”
- Warmth Support Program client
In close collaboration with utility partners, Warmth Support Program staff offer wraparound services and provide essential information and counseling to help individuals and families avoid crises in the future. Funds are distributed by local, knowledgeable, and compassionate staff who ensure that every dollar contributed goes directly to support our community members in need.
Warmth literally saved people’s lives this year.
